Local Challenges: Improving Quality of Life through Improving Public Health

Local Challenges

Infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, schools, and hospitals are being gradually improved in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and surrounding areas. However, residents are keenly aware that more needs to be done.
Inadequate public sanitation and inadequate education cause many deaths from preventable diseases such as infectious diseases.

BRIDGE’s Initiatives

Public Health-Based Infectious Disease Prevention

The majority of deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo are due to infectious diseases such as malaria and HIV. There is an urgent need for public health measures and measures that prevent infectious diseases. BRIDGE is therefore working to improve environments surrounding residential areas (removing puddles and garbage, which are breeding grounds for malaria-carrying mosquitoes) and to support education on the prevention of healthcare-acquired infections in the hospital.

Support for Education through the Congo Children's Fund

There are many children in the Democratic Republic of Congo without access to education due to their economic background. We support the education of these children in cooperation with the Congo Children's Fund. The Congo Children's Fund helps to reach as many children as possible by directly funding educational institutions (public primary and secondary schools).
